You came from the land of the heather, boys,
To our little inland town,
And our quiet streets have been busy, boys,
With the kilties up and down.
And now that you’re going to leave us, boys,
On one of the coming days,
We want you to know that we wish you well,
Wherever you are – always.
You’ve heard the call of your country, boys,
And you’re off to fight the foe,
And your Bedford friends will follow you, boys,
With interest, wherever you go.
You’ve taken our town and our homes by storm,
But we haven’t one single regret,
For we’re proud to have known you and loved you, boys,
And we’re not the sort to forget.
